4 Kind Acts • 4 Weeks
Watch the November 30th Cochrane Times newspaper or Helping Hands’ Facebook page for more details.
The Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area seeks to participate in assisting to meet the basic needs of those in our community without resources and a support network. One commonly known way that Helping Hands does this is by organizing the Cochrane and area Food Drive twice a year. However, throughout the year there are other programs that Helping Hands has established in order to address human needs and build community. The Snow Helper program, the Summer Do Crew, a Volunteer Driver Program and a Caring Neighbours Program. One way that Helping Hands will be helping the community this Holiday season is through our 1st Christmas Kindness Challenge.
Through our Christmas Kindness Challenge, we are encouraging the community of Cochrane to participate in 4 random acts of kindness during the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas. Each week we will be sending out an image through social media, as well as the Cochrane Times. There will be ideas in each week’s challenge to help participants brainstorm how to volunteer in the community. Community members will have the opportunity to cut out the image, write their volunteer activity on the image, and bring it to Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre where the image can be put on the “Christmas Kindness Challenge Wall” alongside the rest of the community’s images. If the volunteers are participating through social media, they are able to post a photo of their completed image on the Helping Hands Society of Cochrane & Area Facebook page.
We can’t wait to see how many acts of kindness the amazing volunteers and caring neighbours in Cochrane in Cochrane will perform!
This is an exciting opportunity to support and to get to know your neighbours this Christmas Season!
